...Without The Use of Pills, Injections or Surgery

  • Have you injured your knee playing football, hockey, or skiing?
  • Is it swollen, bruised and seriously painful?
  • Scared that you might need surgery (or already booked in)?

Well, guess what?

It won't magically get better if you ignore it.

Rest is not best.

In fact, if it's a very recent injury and you heard the equivalent of a gunshot when it happened, or you've got extensive bruising and inflammation, and your Knee is giving way – you need to get checked out in the ER because you may have “snapped” your anterior cruciate ligament, which is a severe injury that requires immediate attention.

Plus, you’re probably going to need something for the pain, eh?

But remember, we're here for you before and after ACL reconstruction surgery – to help you get back on your feet in record time. So if you're already booked in for ACL Surgery – call us now to arrange your pre-and post-surgery physiotherapy consultation.

If your pain is less severe and there is minimal bruising and inflammation, then you may have just sprained your anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or one of the many other ligaments and tendons inside the Knee.

If that sounds like you, don't worry. You're not alone. We see patients all the time whose knees keep “giving way” and letting them down. They’re officially "on the bench." But they’re the lucky ones – who came to see us before things got serious. Unfortunately, we see just as many patients whose sore knees got worse because they didn’t seek treatment. Luckily for them, though, we're experts in physiotherapy after ACL surgery. It's one of the most common types of pre-and post-surgery rehab we provide at our physiotherapy clinic in Markham, Ontario.

(If you’ve managed to avoid surgery so far, don't leave it to your chance. Because worst-case scenario, you could end up needing knee surgery or develop a long-term disability and lose your independence altogether).

When it comes to Knee Pain, the first things patients ask us is:

“Why Me?”...

or

“Why Is My Knee Still Hurting When I’ve Been Resting For At Least 6 Months?”

We just expect our bodies to fix things, don’t we?

Like magic, we want to wake up one morning and feel like we did before the pain started… But months later, you're still in pain – feeling even stiffer and more uncomfortable than when it started, right?

Does That Sound Like You?

So many patients who come to see us with Knee pain and ACL sprains say,

"I saw my doctor when the pain started. They told me it was my age/growing pains/overuse. They said I should stop what I was doing and take prescription anti-inflammatories and go back in three weeks if I was still in pain”.

They sit at home, “resting” on doctor’s orders – not moving and not exercising.

But nothing changes, of course – and they're back in the doctor's office three weeks later with a few more pounds added to the "Molson Muscle."

Think about it this way…

If you had a bike and the chain that connects the pedals to the gears falls off. But everything else seems ok – the bell works, there’s air in the tyres, spokes are straight, and the handlebars are secure.

What happens when you try to spin the pedals?

The tyres won’t turn, eh?

Now, imagine I tell you to take your bike and REST it for three weeks.

You spray the gears with WD40 (painkillers) every day.

Then you try the pedals again in three weeks.

What's changed?

Correct – absolutely NOTHING.

You didn't fix the problem.

The chain in your body needs attention.

No amount of rest, painkillers, or other pain-masking methods is going to fix it.

We help you fix it for good, naturally – without pills, injections, or surgery.

If you haven’t studied anatomy and physiology and how the musculoskeletal system works. Knee pain is confusing because there are many potential causes, from strains, sprains and structural problems to injuries, medical conditions, and full-blown cruciate ligament tears. But whatever the reason, believing that you must endure it as part of life or a natural part of getting older, categorically isn’t true. Not on our watch, anyway.

If You Are Living With Pain, Here’s The Top 7 Reasons Why Knee Pain Is Lasting Longer Than It Should:

  • You thought it would go away on it’s own - but it didn’t
  • The doctor gave you prehistoric advice to rest and take painkillers – except the pills made you feel sick, and the pain came back as soon as the drugs wore off.
  • Well-meaning (but misguided) friends and relatives told you they’ve all got knee pain, too, so you should just accept it.
  • You tried a hypnotist, a herbalist, an energy healer and anyone else willing to take your money, but nothing helped.
  • You tried curing yourself with YouTube videos, fancy foam rollers and Knee stretching routines, but they either didn't help or made your pain a million times worse.
  • You swore yourself off all forms of exercise and movement and watched TV for three straight weeks. It seemed like a good idea to rest. But all that did was make your leg muscles even stiffer and walking even more painful.
  • You tried a relaxing spa massage to try and escape from the pain. It worked for a while, but the pain returned within a couple of days.

Some of these are tongue in cheek. We speak from many years of experience treating patients who are desperate to fix their Knee pain and avoid Knee surgery. But we also know that Knee pain is no laughing matter. It’s miserable. That’s why we’re so passionate about it – and we’re seriously good at what we do.

You don’t have to put up with Knee pain – we would love to help you get rid of it for good. All you need to do to get started is book a free appointment with one of our physiotherapists. You can choose to do this via the telephone or a Discovery Visit at our clinic in Markham, Ontario. But, again, there is no obligation to commit to treatment – it's just an opportunity for you to find out how we can help and decide whether we're the right fit for you.

How does that sound?

Are you ready to get out of pain?

Click the link below to book your complimentary appointment to get some straight-talking advice on what's wrong with your Knee and how we can help you fix it fast.

What Can I do to Get Rid of My Knee Pain Quickly?...

Well, here are our top tips:

  • The first one is a no-brainer; Decide to get help. Don’t procrastinate any longer. If you’ve had knee pain for a while, it most likely won't get better with time. Instead, you'll be another six months older and still in pain – potentially with permanent damage that you can't fix with physiotherapy alone. So commit to doing something about it before things get even worse.
  • Go for cold. Ice is one of the best natural remedies for pain and inflammation. It doesn't have to be anything fancy either – just use whatever you have in the freezer, like a bag of peas or frozen fruit or ice wrapped in a t-shirt. But, of course, that's when you're at home anyway. At the Physio for Surgery clinic, we have the incredible Game Ready machine – designed by NASA. There is nothing quite like it to obliterate inflammation and reduce knee pain.
  • Slow DownIf you have a knee injury that is causing you to limp, you may be exacerbating things and making the pain worse if you try and walk at the same speed as usual. Instead, slow down and concentrate on walking the way you usually do without limping. Focus on lifting your knee-high and moving your foot from heel to toe as you go through the motions of walking.
  • Get “in-person” Physiotherapy Nothing beats professional physiotherapy for Knee pain and to avoid ending up needing ACL surgery. At PHYSIO FOR SURGERY, it's one of the most common complaints we treat. So we can find the root cause quickly and get you back to work, in the gym or on the track, field or pitch and back enjoying time with your friends and family again as quickly as possible.

Please enjoy these stories of other people with Knee pain just like you who came to see the physiotherapy team at Physio For Surgery - and left much healthier and happier:

I want to preface this review by saying that if I could give this clinic more than five stars, I would!Brandon, Nick & Angelo - Easily 3 of the best people to have by your side while you’re recovering from an injury. About 4 months ago, I injured my ankle to a point where I was constantly in pain, and wasn’t able to walk properly without support. When I first called the clinic to make an appointment, Nick went out of his way to fully understand the extent of my injury and to explain what was truly going on with my ankle. Before my first appointment, I was apprehensive, a little confused, but mostly, in a lot of pain. Brandon was more than patient with me as I started my recovery journey, and he explained the reasoning behind his treatments, and helped me understand how each exercise was working to fix the damage that was already done. I can confidently say that Brandon was the best Physiotherapist I could have gotten! In a short amount of time, I was back to doing my day to day activities, and now that the course of my treatment is over - my ankle feels great! I’m no longer in pain and my range of motion has come back!Brandon - I genuinely don’t have enough words to say thank you! Without your help, I would not be running at top speed! Going to miss the Anti-Gravity TreadmillNick - You’ve got such an amazing clinic here and I appreciate everything you’ve done for me! I had absolutely the best experience here.Angelo - Always great to see a smiling face everytime I walk in! Thanks for always making it a seamless experience!Highly recommend Physio for Surgery - this clinic makes recovery fun, and most importantly, they’re dedicated and invested in making sure your recovery journey is a happy and successful one!

SO HAPPY I COULD CRY!Since April of 2022, I started having slight shoulder pain in my left arm. I had an ultrasound which revealed that I had calcific tendinitis of my supraspinatus tendon. I went to 2 physiotherapists, and the pain would go away for a few hours, but always come back. I also started doing exercises from the internet that were suggested to me, to no avail. After 6 months, the slight pain turned EXCRUTIATING. I couldn't even lift my arm at a 45 degree angle without feeling a shooting pain go down to my fingers. It was just brutal. I was readily preparing myself that I would probably need to have surgery or live this way.Until I found BRANDON at PHYSIO FOR SURGERY!I searched online for a clinic that specialized in rotator cuff issues. Since I had already been to 2 physiotherapists previously, I didn't have very high expectations, however, Brandon was a Superstar and changed all that! After only our first assessment, my shoulder was already feeling extremely better. That night was the first time in 6 MONTHS that I didn't wake up because of the horrid pain, and was finally able to get a full night’s sleep. I've been seeing him once a week, and diligently following the rehab exercises he provides to me. My shoulder is almost back to normal, and I'm so grateful. If my shoulder pain sounds familiar to you, just know that not all physiotherapy clinics are the same.If you want to actually get healed, get their help. They will take care of you!!

Not to mention all the staffs there were super nice and friendly. Always offer me drink, snack and ice-cream bar when I arrive for appointment. Wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone to this place for treatment. Keep up the good work.

I went to Nick after breaking my collarbone during the on summer. I picked Physio for Surgery based on the Google reviews that were posted. And the other reviews are spot on! Nick and crew are friendly and they care as they take the time to explain why things hurt and how they're going to help fix it. They have treated my shoulder and got it back to how it was pre injury. They've also helped with my lower back issues and are now working on my tennis elbow. If they aren't good I wouldn't be going back to have them look at my other issues. Highly recommended!

Nick is amazing!I never really had great results with previous physiotherapists, but Nick has changed that. I’ve seen a difference in such a short amount of time with respect to my injuries over the years and the therapy he has given me has so far released some of the pain that I have had for quite some time. He has truly been a blessing and will continue going to Nick for sessions. I would definitely recommend!A bonus - the others who work there are also wonderful people! Great environment.

For treatment to be successful, consistency is key. Multiple sessions coupled with performing the exercises provided by the physiotherapist.I began attending Physio for Surgery due to a shoulder issue. The initial assessment was done thoroughly and right away I was given exercises. Over the next couple of weeks, I had several sessions and made sure to do the exercises given to me. Needless to say, my shoulder feels much better!Thank you Amber, Brandon, and Señor Nick!

My son had a shoulder injury from pitching over the summer. Nick got him in immediately, made an effort to work with our baseball schedule, gave effective treatment, and then often added on additional time on some of the latest machines/equipment he has there to continue the effects of his own work. He sent us home with exercises that changed week by week and followed up with us via email regularly. We felt like he was invested in my son and his recovery much more than other places we have been to. Would highly recommend Physio for Surgery. We had a great experience and achieved the results we were hoping for.

I went to Brandon here for knee pain from running. I had a fantastic experience here. Brandon was very thorough in his assessment. It was my first time doing physio but Brandon and team were great at making me feel comfortable and ensuring I understood everything we were doing. Within 5 sessions my pain was completely gone and I was able to participate in all the high intensity exercise (running, swimming) that I was interested in! Definitely will be coming back in the future for any other needs. 11/10 would recommend!

After having a complete knee replacement on the horizon, I knew I was in store for a lot of work to get back to any level of knee normalcy. With a challenging road in front of me, before surgery I started to look for a physiotherapist, and a clinic to work with me and together, take care of my rehab.I spoke to many different clinics, but I didn't feel my recovery would have been smooth as it should be, UNTIL I met Nick at PHYSIO FOR SURGERY.From the moment I met Nick, I knew he was the BEST Physiotherapist I had spoken with, and best fit for me and my recovery. Nick's attention to detail and constant concern made me feel like a human patient, rather than a number and a commodity to generate cash flow for a clinic.Eleven weeks after my surgery, I am now well on my way to a total knee replacement recovery, and I can say without hesitation my recovery is largely due to everyone at Physio For Surgery working with me.If you are looking for one of the many medical recovery features, they offer........do not walk to the phone to call the office, RUN.....if you are able!
