...Without The Use of Pills, Injections or Surgery

  • Do you have an ache in your shoulder or sharp pain shooting down your arm?
  • Does it keep you awake at night and hurt when you lift your arms?
  • Scared that you might need surgery (or already booked in)?

Well, guess what?

It won't magically get better if you ignore it.

Rest is not best.

In fact, if your shoulder joint grinds and cracks when you raise your arms or you’re starting to feel the first signs of muscle weakness and finding it increasingly difficult to move your arm, please book a consult with one of our physios right away because your rotator cuff may be torn - or partially torn and at risk of tearing further.

Plus, not being able to sleep on one side is no way to live, eh?

If that sounds like how your Shoulder feels. Don't worry. You're not alone. We see patients who initially ignore the signs or put it down to general aches and pains all the time. But they're the lucky ones – who came to see us before things got serious. Unfortunately, we see just as many patients whose rotator cuffs have already “torn” – landing them up in surgery to have the tear repaired. Luckily for them, though, we're experts in physiotherapy after Rotator Cuff tear surgery. It's one of the most common types of post-surgery rehab we provide at our physiotherapy clinic in Markham, Ontario.

If you’re already booked in for Rotator Cuff Tear Surgery – call us now to arrange your pre-and post-surgery physiotherapy consultation.

(If you’ve managed to avoid surgery so far, don't leave it to your chance. Because worst-case scenario, you could end up needing shoulder surgery or develop a long-term disability and lose your independence altogether).

When it comes to Rotator Cuff Pain, the first things patients ask us is:

“Why Me?”...

or

“Why Is My Shoulder Still Hurting When I’ve Been Resting For At Least 6 Months?”

We just expect our bodies to fix things, don’t we?

Like magic, we want to wake up one morning and feel like we did before the pain started… But months later, you're still in pain – feeling even stiffer and more uncomfortable than when it started, right?

Does This Sound Like You?

So many patients who come to see us with shoulder pain say,

"I saw my doctor when the pain started. They told me it was my age/growing pains/overuse. They said I should stop what I was doing and take prescription anti-inflammatories and go back in three weeks if I was still in pain”.

They sit at home, “resting” on doctor’s orders – not moving and not exercising.

But nothing changes, of course – and they're back in the doctor's office three weeks later with a few more pounds added to the "Molson Muscle."

Think about it this way…

If you had a bike and the chain that connects the pedals to the gears falls off. But everything else seems ok – the bell works, there’s air in the tyres, spokes are straight, and the handlebars are secure.

What happens when you try to spin the pedals?

The tyres won’t turn, eh?

Now, imagine I tell you to take your bike and REST it for three weeks.

You spray the gears with WD40 (painkillers) every day.

Then you try the pedals again in three weeks.

What's changed?

Correct – absolutely NOTHING.

You didn't fix the problem.

The chain in your body needs attention.

No amount of rest, painkillers, or other pain-masking methods is going to fix it.

We help you fix it for good, naturally – without pills, injections, or surgery.

If you haven’t studied anatomy and physiology and how the musculoskeletal system works. Shoulder and Rotator Cuff pain are confusing because there are many potential causes, from strains, sprains and structural problems to injuries, medical conditions, and full-blown Rotator Cuff tendon tears. But whatever the reason, believing that you must endure it as part of life or a natural part of getting older, categorically isn’t true. Not on our watch, anyway

If You Are Living With Pain, Here’s The Top 7 Reasons Why Rotator Cuff Pain Is Lasting Longer Than It Should:

  • You thought it would go away on it’s own - but it didn’t
  • The doctor gave you prehistoric advice to rest and take painkillers – except the pills made you feel sick, and the pain came back as soon as the drugs wore off.
  • Well-meaning (but misguided) friends and relatives told you they’ve all got shoulder pain, too, so you should just accept it.
  • You tried a hypnotist, a herbalist, an energy healer and anyone else willing to take your money, but nothing helped.
  • You tried curing yourself with YouTube videos, fancy foam rollers and Shoulder stretching routines, but they either didn't help or made your pain a million times worse.
  • You swore yourself off all forms of exercise and movement and watched TV for three straight weeks. It seemed like a good idea to rest. But all that did was make your shoulder muscles even stiffer and lifting your arms even more painful.
  • You tried a relaxing spa massage to try and escape from the pain. It worked for a while, but the pain returned within a couple of days.

Some of these are tongue in cheek. We speak from many years of experience treating patients who are desperate to fix their Shoulder pain and avoid Rotator Cuff surgery. But we also know that Shoulder pain is no laughing matter. It’s miserable. That’s why we’re so passionate about it – and we’re seriously good at what we do.

You don’t have to put up with Rotator Cuff pain – we would love to help you get rid of it for good. All you need to do to get started is book a free appointment with one of our physiotherapists. You can choose to do this via the telephone or a Discovery Visit at our clinic in Markham, Ontario. But, again, there is no obligation to commit to treatment – it's just an opportunity for you to find out how we can help and decide whether we're the right fit for you.

How does that sound?

Click the link below to book your complimentary appointment to get some straight-talking advice on what's wrong with your Shoulder and how we can help you fix it fast.

What Can I do to Get Rid of My Rotator Cuff Pain Quickly?...

Well, here are our top tips:

  • The first one is a no-brainer; Decide to get help. Don’t procrastinate any longer. If you’ve had shoulder pain for a while, it most likely won't get better with time. Instead, you'll be another six months older and still in pain – potentially with permanent damage that you can't fix with physiotherapy alone. So commit to doing something about it before things get even worse.
  • Check your posture. How are you sitting or standing now? Are your shoulders hunched forwards? How do you sit at work? Same. What about when you're asleep? Do you curl into a ball? These positions contribute to super-tight chest muscles and slack back muscles—the perfect storm for shoulder issues. Don't go crazy, though – because pushing your shoulders too far back in a manic fashion can cause just as many problems. Instead, just remind yourself regularly to sit up straight – or even better, get up and walk around.
  • Work on your coreWe don’t have abdominal muscles just to look good in swimwear. Your “core” is much more important than that – it supports your spine and upper back. The long-term goal should be to strengthen your core with exercises provided by a physio. But, in the meantime, focus on pulling in your belly button when you’re sitting for long periods.
  • Get “in-person” Physiotherapy Nothing beats professional physiotherapy for Achilles’ pain and to avoid ending up needing Rotator Cuff surgery. At PHYSIO FOR SURGERY, it's one of the most common complaints we treat. So we can find the root cause quickly and get you back to work, in the gym and moving your arms normally again as soon as possible.

If you would like to know how the physiotherapy team at Physio For Surgery, Markham can help fix your Shoulder pain – we recommend you start with a free, risk-free appointment to try us out:

So the next question is:

“How Can Choosing to See a Therapist at Physio For Surgery Help You Get Rid of Your Rotator Cuff Pain?

Here are just a few of the things our physiotherapists can do for you:

  • We can reduce your pain and mobilize your muscles and joints
  • We can pinpoint the underlying cause of your shoulder pain
  • We help you get a good night’s sleep – without Shoulder pain keeping you awake at night, so you have more energy the following day
  • We make sure your problem is 100% fixed and provide you with exercises and advice to prevent it from happening again in the future, so you can stop worrying and start enjoying life again
  • We keep you out of the doctor’s office, help you stop taking painkillers and protect your long-term health by reducing your pain levels naturally
  • We can help you avoid dangerous Rotator Cuff surgery and those awful steroid injections
  • We stop you from missing out on exercising and playing sports and get you back up and running without pain
  • We help you dance, swim, and play golf/tennis again without pain or feeling like you can’t move your arm properly

I want to preface this review by saying that if I could give this clinic more than five stars, I would!Brandon, Nick & Angelo - Easily 3 of the best people to have by your side while you’re recovering from an injury. About 4 months ago, I injured my ankle to a point where I was constantly in pain, and wasn’t able to walk properly without support. When I first called the clinic to make an appointment, Nick went out of his way to fully understand the extent of my injury and to explain what was truly going on with my ankle. Before my first appointment, I was apprehensive, a little confused, but mostly, in a lot of pain. Brandon was more than patient with me as I started my recovery journey, and he explained the reasoning behind his treatments, and helped me understand how each exercise was working to fix the damage that was already done. I can confidently say that Brandon was the best Physiotherapist I could have gotten! In a short amount of time, I was back to doing my day to day activities, and now that the course of my treatment is over - my ankle feels great! I’m no longer in pain and my range of motion has come back!Brandon - I genuinely don’t have enough words to say thank you! Without your help, I would not be running at top speed! Going to miss the Anti-Gravity TreadmillNick - You’ve got such an amazing clinic here and I appreciate everything you’ve done for me! I had absolutely the best experience here.Angelo - Always great to see a smiling face everytime I walk in! Thanks for always making it a seamless experience!Highly recommend Physio for Surgery - this clinic makes recovery fun, and most importantly, they’re dedicated and invested in making sure your recovery journey is a happy and successful one!

SO HAPPY I COULD CRY!Since April of 2022, I started having slight shoulder pain in my left arm. I had an ultrasound which revealed that I had calcific tendinitis of my supraspinatus tendon. I went to 2 physiotherapists, and the pain would go away for a few hours, but always come back. I also started doing exercises from the internet that were suggested to me, to no avail. After 6 months, the slight pain turned EXCRUTIATING. I couldn't even lift my arm at a 45 degree angle without feeling a shooting pain go down to my fingers. It was just brutal. I was readily preparing myself that I would probably need to have surgery or live this way.Until I found BRANDON at PHYSIO FOR SURGERY!I searched online for a clinic that specialized in rotator cuff issues. Since I had already been to 2 physiotherapists previously, I didn't have very high expectations, however, Brandon was a Superstar and changed all that! After only our first assessment, my shoulder was already feeling extremely better. That night was the first time in 6 MONTHS that I didn't wake up because of the horrid pain, and was finally able to get a full night’s sleep. I've been seeing him once a week, and diligently following the rehab exercises he provides to me. My shoulder is almost back to normal, and I'm so grateful. If my shoulder pain sounds familiar to you, just know that not all physiotherapy clinics are the same.If you want to actually get healed, get their help. They will take care of you!!

Wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone to this place for treatment. Keep up the good work.

I went to Nick after breaking my collarbone during the on summer. I picked Physio for Surgery based on the Google reviews that were posted. And the other reviews are spot on! Nick and crew are friendly and they care as they take the time to explain why things hurt and how they're going to help fix it. They have treated my shoulder and got it back to how it was pre injury. They've also helped with my lower back issues and are now working on my tennis elbow. If they aren't good I wouldn't be going back to have them look at my other issues. Highly recommended!
